Abstract

The annual teosinte (Zeanicaraguensis Iltis & Benz) is a wild species endemic to the Reserve Apacunca Genetic Resources (RRGA) in northwestern Nicaragua. He is related to corn and forage potential is high. The study evaluated moments of cuts in teosinte, and related maize (Zea mays L.) and forage sorghum (Sorghum vulgare). The degradability of dry matter in fistulated cattle breed Reyna was determined with the methodology of Orskov and McDonald (1979), as well as analysis of variance and statistical categorization (LSD, α = 0.05). The proximate analysis values were higher in cuts made in the months of June and July, and the dry matter was lower in teosinte and maize to sorghum forage. Teosinte fiber showed similar values for corn and sorghum older. The higher rate of ruminal degradation occurs during the first 24h.
