Abstract

Historical research with a narrative approach based on the author’s experience in conducting an insurgent force. It analyzes the implicit dimensions of social and territorial control by occupation forces in an internal conflict, including: border demarcation, border flexibility, balance of forces, logistics corridors, establishment of a social support base. It addresses three main aspects: 1) How the Salvadoran state lost hegemony in the territory paving the way for the insurgent forces; 2) How insurgent forces reached social and territorial control; 3) Key factors that allowed for an unstable equilibrium of forces during the armed conflict.
