Abstract

The years of 1979 and 1980 were the beginning of the armed conflict and the almost immobile government, to which is added the massive outflow of capital, the large popular gatherings, assassinations, kidnappings, machine guns, bombs and other painful situations.
In these two years, there were no new universities and there was the closure and military intervention of the University of El Salvador (UES) in 1981.
In this period, the demand for new universities was increased, pressure that was released in that same year, when many interested academics and entrepreneurs created universities with the approval and government promotion. On June 12, 1981, the Technological University of El Salvador approved the Executive Decree.
Ten new universities emerged with approaches, orientations and innovative models, such as the technological universities, the humanistic universities, the religious ones, the specialized ones in the area of health and the decentralized or deconcentrated universities of San Salvador.
