Abstract

This article shows the process by which blackness and black populations in the Dominican Republic have had to be relegated by the dominant hegemonic and colonial class, despite its obvious percentage and contribution to Dominican society: the processes of miscegenation and construction of the nation's ideology they have invisible blackness and built their discourse on other identifiers, establishing in this way, not only economic barriers to the development of black populations, but also social and historical exclusion.

Sociólogo, productor de programas culturales. Ha sido  profesor de Sociología y Antropología de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). Fue director del Instituto Dominicano de Investigaciones Antropológica (INDIA). Es miembro de la Academia de Ciencias de la República Dominicana. Fue director del Museo de Hombre Dominicano y coordinador de proyectos culturales del Centro León Jiménez en Santiago de los Caballeros. Es investigador asociado de FLACSO. Doctor en Historia del Caribe. Asesor Especialista en Cultura Centro Cultural Eduardo León Jiménez Santiago, República Dominicana.
