Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritional response of a commercial concentrate vs. Amigos For Christ concentrate, for fattening pigs in their different stages of growth. In the experiment, five productive stages (start II, start III, growth, development, fattening) were analyzed in two groups of fed pigs: commercial concentrate (Litter A) and Amigos For Christ concentrate (Litter B). Fourteen hybrid pigs (Mestizo – Pietrain) were divided into two groups of 7 each. The variables evaluated were Feed Consumption (CA), Body Weight (PC), Feed Conversion (FC) and Benefit-Cost Ratio (B/C). In the CA variable, it was found that both litters consumed the same amount of concentrate. The CP variable: litter A, obtained a better CP in the first stage, beginning II: 23.59 lb, in the following stages it was lower. Litter B: Start II: 21.93 lbs. In CA, litter A obtained a higher conversion rate in all stages except growth. Both in the variable PC, CA, the data are normally distributed and there is no significant statistical difference between the two diets. The variable B/C. The treatment that presented the greatest utility was the Amigos For Christ concentrate with 1.36 cents of a dollar. It is concluded that Amigos For Christ concentrate is a viable feeding alternative for the implementation of fattening pigs.
