Objective. To identify risk areas of phlebotomine sand flies proliferation in El Salvador.
Methodology. Identification of risk areas of phlebotomine sand flies in El Salvador using Multi-criteria decision-making of environmental and social factors. Evaluation and weight were established by the expert panel and Multi-criteria decision-making to create risk maps of phlebotomine sand flies proliferation. Results. High risk on land use and elevation was found, however, the elevation showed middle risk on the mountainous areas of the country. High risk was presented by canine density in the western and middle of the country. Final maps of environmental and social factors showed a middle risk in almost all the country. Conclusions. Middle risk of proliferation was found in almost all the country. Environmental and social factors with high risk were land use, elevation and canine density. Despite there is a low level of risk in some areas, El Salvador has the conditions to phlebotomine sand flies proliferation.
